2. SUMMARY
The work in general consisted of the conversion of the existing alley north of Chapman Avenue, from Lemon Street to Cypress Street, into a pedestrian-only corridor. This included the construction of a new trash enclosure to relocate existing trash pickup services of adjacent businesses, installation of removable bollards on each end of the alley to prevent vehicle access, and addition of planter areas to blend with existing landscaping.
The City of Orange entered into a contract with Gentry General Engineering, Inc. The work was substantially completed to the satisfaction of the Public Works Department. The brick veneer to match the exterior surface of the parking structure was subject to an extensive material lead time and is set for arrival in April 2022, Contractor will return to complete the brick veneer installation at that time.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Accept Chapman Avenue Alley Improvement (SP-4164) as substantially complete, and authorize staff to file Notice of Completion with the County Recorder.
