1. SUBJECT
Acceptance of 19 grant funded Wi-Fi hotspots with data plans, 13 Chromebook laptops, and 12 accessory kits for the Library’slending collection, valued at $14,500, received from California State Library and Southern California Library Cooperative.
2. SUMMARY
This equipment from California State Library and Southern California Library Cooperative will be used to enhance and expand the Library’s technology for adults and their families.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. Accept into the City’srevenue budget $14,500 in grant funds from California State Library and Southern California Library Cooperative into revenue account number 100.2001.45290.30192, General Fund - Home Connectivity Kit Project.
2. Authorize the appropriation of $14,500 in grant funds into expenditure account number 100.2004.55131.30192 - Furniture, Machinery, Equipment for General Fund - Home Connectivity Kit Project.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
The total appropriation for this grant is funded by the additional revenue received from California State Library and Southern California Library Cooperative.

6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The Orange Public Library has been awarded a Home Connectivity Kit Project Grant for Fiscal Year 2021-2022 (FY22). California State Library and Southern California Library Cooperative (SCLC) have generously provided support in Federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds to enhance and expand the Library’s technology for adults and their families.
The goal of the grant is to address digital inequity in communities, which the pandemic has made evident. The grant will fund 19 Wi-Fi hotspots with data plans, 13 Chromebook laptops, and 12 accessory kits for the Library’slending collection.
