LAC will further identify and document opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness to operations, outlining specific processes and configurations that should be included in the soon to be proposed computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). The proposed CMMS will come as a result of a competitive selection process that was recently completed and will be coming forward for City Council consideration in the next few months, after the evaluation by LAC is completed.
One notable aspect of the proposed evaluation will compare the current 2022 state against the recommendations made by LAC in their 2001 Final Report of Recommendations. LAC will evaluate the status of each of the 2001 Final Report Recommendations, documenting any impacts to operations.
Harry Lorick, the owner and principal of LAC, is also currently serving as President of the Southern California Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA). LAC possesses an impressive resume and familiarity with the niche area of maintenance management.
Potentially, staff could return to City Council for additional consulting services with LAC to provide guidance during the implementation of the new CMMS. The scope of those potential implementation services can only be fully identified as an outcome of this evaluation. If the services become an identified need, staff would propose them alongside the award of contract for the new CMMS.
