Dear Dave,
Fortel Traffic, Inc. is the sole manufacture and distributor for the VCalm® brand of safety products. This includes the VCalm®SM-16 and VCalm® VMS (120 and Solar type) sign products (standard City of Orange products).
These signs offer capabilities not available in other radar speed signs.
Some of the features that set the Fortel VCalm® signs apart from others include;
1. The Fortel VCalm® signs are the only speed radar sign to offer VSpeed™Online (“VSO”). This web based program allows your agency to program the operation and analysis of traffic data via an internet based portal. The sign operation and program is created on the web portal and stored on an SD card for placement in the sign. VSO is a user definable internet accessi ble program that is always up- to date without any software cost or need for disks , etc. With features/ benefits like simulation/ configuration to avoid timely erro rs, maintenance database, pixel monitoring to self diagnose and detect LED pixel fa ilures, intuitive warnings such as power, voltage monitoring, anti-solar panel thef t alert system, user definable email violator alert with optional modem, Street Vi ew, and calendaring of special events.
2. VSO also calculates the effectiveness of the sig n by monitoring whether vehicles accelerated, decelerated, or remained neutral withi n the radar zone. This Entry, Exit, Peak, and Low speed calculation for each vehi cle empirically proves the level of effectiveness of the sign. VSO also graphs incremental statistics of motorists speeds throughout a 24 hour time period. This allows the user to determine when the sign is most effective on a 24 h our clock. 3. The SDHC card that is contained within the sign also allows 80 years of data storage capability with a 16 gigabyte card. Fortel Traffic is truly the only provider

with the capability to connect real time to the sig n with the addition of a data modem.
4. Fortel Traffic, Inc. radar speed feedback sign h as more LED’s than any other radar sign on the market. Fortel utilizes proprieta ry PWMS (e.g., pulse, width, modulation, scanning) technology with 20 watts on a verage per day. The sign is also equipped with 100 different dimming settings t hat can be preprogrammed based on time of day/ location needs.
5. The Fortel VCalm® signs are the only signs manuf actured with the capability to include a flashing beacon system designed by the ra dar speed sign manufacturer. This unique feature allows a flashin g beacon to be powered and controlled by the internal Fortel VCalm®SM-16 sign controller. The solar system utilized on the Fortel VCalm® signs are designed wi th the anticipation of powering a flashing LED beacon. Competitive radar s peed sign manufacturers typically need supply an additional beacon system in order to provide the flashing beacon(s).
