On November 11, 2020, the City Council awarded the contract to Robert Clapper Construction Services, Inc. for Fire Headquarters and Station No. 1. The construction began in January 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in May 2022. As part of the scope of work, the installation of the electrical equipment is needed to energize the facility, and Southern California Edison (SCE) will need the easement to install lines and equipment on City property.

This easement from the City will allow SCE underground conduit from Water Street to the new above -ground transformer location in the new Fire Station No. 1/Fire Headquarters parking lot. Staff recommends the granting of a utility easement to SCE for the electrical requirement needed.
