1. SUBJECT
Reappointment of Library Board of Trustee member Rebecca Martinez to a third three-year term ending June 30, 2025.
2. SUMMARY
Rebecca Martinez’s second term on the Library Board of Trustees expires on June 30, 2022.
Pursuant to Orange Municipal Code Chapter 2.55.010, she is eligible to serve two additional three- year terms. If reappointed to a third term, the term would expire on June 30, 2025.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Reappoint Library Board of Trustee member Rebecca Martinez for a three-year term ending June 30, 2025.
4. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
At the April 12, 2022, City Council meeting, Council had a question surrounding Ms. Martinez’sterm of office. To clarify, Ms. Martinez was first appointed in 2016 for a three-year term ending June 30, 2019. No reappointments were made to Boards, Commissions, and Committees during 2019 and 2020. Thereafter, on February 9, 2021, she was reappointed for the remainder of the second term ending June 30, 2022 (serving July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022). Therefore, if reappointed to her third three-year term, it would expire on June 30, 2025 (serving July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025).
In order to maintain consecutive terms, and not exceed the maximum twelve years of service (pursuant to OMC Chapter 2.55.010), the terms for reappointed positions are determined retroactively.
