Authorize purchase of furniture for the Orange Public Library from Yamada Enterprises.
2. SUMMARY
Request to authorize a $68,204.67 purchase order with Yamada Enterprises for furniture for the Orange Public Library & History Center and the El Modena Branch Library meeting rooms.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve purchase order for furniture from Yamada Enterprises in the amount of $68,204.67.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
The total expenditure for this purchase is $68,204.67 and will be funded through General Fund (100).
5. STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS
Goal 3: Enhance and promote quality of life in the community A: Refurbish, maintain, develop, and/or expand public use places and spaces.
6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
This purchase order will fund replacement of furniture in the meeting rooms at the Orange Public Library & History Center and El Modena Branch Library. Library meeting rooms are used daily by the public, City departments, and Library staff and support groups and provide meeting and programming spaces for thousands of attendees. Due to heavy usage over the past 15+ years, the furniture in these meeting rooms have become worn and need replacement to provide functional and attractive spaces for the public.
Funds will purchase chairs, tables, and storage racks for the Community Room, Rotary Room, and Staff Conference Room at the Orange Public Library & History Center as well as for the Community Room at the El Modena Branch Library. The Library contacted three furniture vendors to solicit comparable and competitive quotes for these items. Three quotes were received as follows:
1. Yamada Enterprises, Huntington Beach $ 68,204.67
2. Systems Source, Newport Beach $ 84,070.34
3. bluespace interiors, Yorba Linda $111,270.37

furnishings and interior design for library interiors. Orange Public Library staff has interacted with the company previously and experienced excellent customer service and quality merchandise. Yamada holds valid state contractor’slicenses and is bondable and insured. Of the three vendors, Yamada also provided the lowest quote to the Library. Therefore, staff has selected Yamada Enterprises for purchase of Library meeting room furniture. The purchase order will be opened by June 30, 2022 using Fiscal Year 2021-2022 (FY22) funds.
