1. SUBJECT
Authorize purchase of turnout safety gear and associated equipment from LN Curtis & Sons for Fiscal Year 2022-2023.
2. SUMMARY
The Fire Department purchases turnout safety gear and equipment from LN Curtis & Sons every year to replace expiring safety gear, currently in use by firefighting personnel. The Fire Department buys turnout safety gear exclusively from LN Curtis & Sons under the SourceWell Contract #032620.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve the purchase of firefighter turnout safety gear and equipment from LN Curtis & Sons in an amount of $110,000 for Fiscal Year 2022-2023.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
The total expenditure for this purchase is $110,000 and will be funded through General Fund (100) and Fire Facility Fees (560).

6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The Orange City Fire Department receives special pricing on firefighter turnout safety gear by purchasing under the SourceWell Contract #032620 through L.N. Curtis & Sons (Curtis). The Department must purchase from Curtis to maintain its current turnout safety gear specification from Globe Manufacturing Company (Globe). Curtis is the Globe factory authorized vendor for the Southern California Region as well as the Fire Department’sleading supplier for turnout safety boots, wild land brush jackets, gloves, and rope rescue equipment.
