4. FISCAL IMPACT
The voting delegate is required to register and attend the Cal Cities Conference. The City will incur any expenses necessary for registration to enable the delegate to attend and participate at the Annual Business Meeting on Friday, September 9.

5. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The League of California Cities is one of the primary lobbying organizations for municipalities at the State level. Cal Cities advocates a number of key policy decisions in order to support cities and represent municipal interests to the Assembly and Governor. In order to ensure the views of the City of Orange are represented to the League in formulating policies, the City must designate a delegate to represent the City at the League Conference and the Annual Business Meeting.

The League’s 2022 Annual Conference & Expo is scheduled for September 7-9, 2022, in Long Beach. An important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting (during General Assembly) on Friday, September 9. At this meeting, Cal Cities membership considers and acts on resolutions that establish Cal Cities policy.

The City of Orange must designate a voting delegate to represent the City at the Annual Business Meeting. The City may also appoint at least one alternate voting delegate. One of these delegates may represent the City in the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to attend the conference.

The designation of a voting delegate and alternates must be completed by City Council action. The Voting Delegate/Alternate Form must be submitted to Cal Cities no later than September 2, 2022.

The voting delegate and alternates must be registered to attend the conference. They need not register for the entire conference; they may register for Friday only City of Orange Printed on 7/7/2022Page 1 of 2
