1. SUBJECT
Authorize purchase of two Power Pro 2 gurneys from Stryker Medical as a sole source vendor.
2. SUMMARY
The Fire Department is seeking the sole source purchase of two Stryker Power Pro 2 gurneys to replace aging equipment in the field. To decrease costs, two of the oldest gurneys will be traded in for credit.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve the purchase of two Power Pro 2 gurneys from Stryker Medical for $53,458.98.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
The total expenditure, after trade-in, is $53,458.98 and will be funded through 120.3022.56032.20166 - Equipment Replacement EMS Gurneys.
5. STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS

b: Provide and maintain infrastructure necessary to ensure the safety of the public.
6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The Fire Department currently maintains and operates one emergency medical services (EMS) gurney for each of the four front line and four reserve Rescue Ambulances for a total of eight gurneys. Capital Improvement Program (CIP) funding was approved in FY 2022-23 for the purchase of two replacement gurneys. The Fire Department would prefer to purchase these replacement gurneys before an announced price increase by Stryker Medical on October 1, 2022.
This purchase will replace two gurneys which have reached the end of their ten-year service life on reserve Rescue Ambulances. Stryker Medical is the sole source supplier for the Power Pro gurney that is currently used by the Fire Department.
