1. SUBJECT
Appropriation of $30,000 in designated donation funding received from the Friends of the Orange Public Library.
2. SUMMARY
This $30,000 donation will be used to provide books to enhance and expand the Library’scollections, purchase comfortable furniture for use by the public, and provide items to enhance and expand the Library’s programming for families.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. Accept into the City’s budget a $30,000 donation from Friends of the Orange Public Library into revenue account number 100.2001.48390.19990, General Fund - Friends of the Library.
2. Authorize the appropriation of $30,000 into the following expenditure account numbers in the General Fund for Friends of the Orange Public Library:

4. FISCAL IMPACT
The total appropriations for this donation are funded by the additional revenue received from the Friends of the Orange Public Library.
5. STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS
Goal 3: Enhance and promote quality of life in the community e: Develop and strengthen collaborative partnerships to enhance and promote quality of life programs, projects, and services.
6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The Friends of the Orange Public Library (Friends) are donating $30,000 to meet various Library needs, including:

· $2,200 to fund the Library’s Employee Appreciation Program. · $3,000 to purchase fiction and nonfiction materials for all ages for the three Library locations. · $10,750 to purchase tables, chairs, and displays for the Library’s public areas. · $14,050 for Craft Supplies -
o $2,000 is for the Orange Public Library Heritage Days event to pay for guest speakers, decorations, prizes, and giveaways for the public.
o $6,000 for the annual Summer and Winter Reading Clubs for the three libraries to purchase books and reading incentives for approximately 2,000 patrons. o $750 for the annual Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros program at the El Modena Branch Library.
o $5,300 to support Pop Up Library outreach with supplies and marketing materials.
The Orange Public Library will publicize the Friends’contributions in a variety of ways, including bookplates where appropriate, and credit for programming support on the Library’swebsite, flyers, and social media.
