This project encompasses removing and replacing the existing carpet at City Hall and Orange Police Department Headquarters. future.

While the useful life of a police facility can range from 20 to over 50 years, building elements with the shortest lifespan are interior finishes, furnishings, and fixtures which typically last five to ten years.

The 14-year old carpet at the Police Department Headquarters is beyond its useful life and needs to be replaced. This project is being phased with the furniture replacement in Detectives, Records, and Narcotics areas.

Staff checked the references and qualifications for Commercial Interior Resources and found them acceptable, with adequate years of experience in completing contracts of similar nature to this project. Therefore, staff recommends that Commercial Interior Resources be awarded the contract of $241,616, representing an original amount of $219,650 plus a 10% contingency of $21,965 for the purchase and install of new carpet for the Public Works and Community Development Departments and Orange Police Department.

Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2022 and is expected to be completed by December 2022.
