1. SUBJECT
Grant a utility easement to Southern California Edison on City of Orange property to facilitate the installation of support wire for a replacement electrical pole.
2. SUMMARY
The granting of this easement for utility purposes on City owned property will provide the necessary support for an electrical pole serving the Main Library and adjacent residential areas.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Authorize the granting of a utility easement on City property in favor of Southern California Edison and authorize the Mayor to execute the easement deed from the City to Southern California Edison.

6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
Southern California Edison (SCE) has recently tested electrical poles in the City of Orange. It has been determined that the existing electrical pole (Pole No. 4470179E), which serves both the Main Library and the adjacent residences, is deteriorated and in need of replacement. The pole will be replaced in the same location. Once replaced, SCE has determined that the new pole will require stabilization in the form of a support wire, which would anchor approximately 10 feet southerly of the pole location.
The support wire will require an easement from the City of Orange. Staff recommends the granting of a utility easement to SCE to allow for the required stabilization of the electrical pole.
The City Council action is to authorize the granting of a utility easement on City property in favor of SCE, and to authorize the Mayor to execute the easement deed from the City to Southern California City of Orange Printed on 3/9/2023Page 1 of 2
