1. SUBJECT
Authorize the increase of purchase order for turnout safety gear from Allstar Fire Equipment.
2. SUMMARY
The Fire Department purchases turnout safety gear for new recruits and replaces turnouts for fire suppression personnel as they become damaged or have reached their recommended life expectancy of ten years. Due to recent turnout safety gear orders, it is necessary to increase the amount of the Allstar Fire Equipment purchase order for Fiscal Year 2022-2023.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve a $64,000 increase to the purchase order for a not-to-exceed total of $114,000 for turnout safety gear from Allstar Fire Equipment.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
The total increase to the purchase order is $64,000 and will be funded through Fire Facility Fees Fund (560).

6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
Fire Department employees are required to wear turnout safety gear while conducting operations in atmospheres that are immediately dangerous to life and health. Orange City Fire reviews their equipment suppliers annually and assesses needs, based on price, quality, and customer service.
The department has determined the best vendor to meet all criteria for turnout safety gear is Allstar Fire Equipment (Allstar). Allstar is the Lion Group, Inc. factory authorized vendor for the Southern California Region as well as the Fire Department’sleading supplier for helmets, hose, gloves, and rope rescue equipment.
The original purchase order created for Allstar for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 was $50,000, which provides for safety gear replacement of current personnel. Recent turnout safety gear purchases will require an increase of $64,000 to the Allstar purchase order so that we may fulfill our obligations for Fiscal Year 2022-2023.
