acknowledges RedSky as the Authorized Sales and Service Center for Braun ambulances in California. The highly customizable Type I and Type III ambulances from Braun Industries allow RedSky to be a one-stop shop for new ambulance sales.
Building an ambulance takes approximately 28-31 months under current market conditions.
Originally, it was planned that a new ambulance would be purchased as part of the FY24 budget; however, an ambulance that had already been manufactured and which met Fire Department's requirements became available for immediate purchase with delivery in June 2023. The availability of this ambulance presented an excellent opportunity to procure needed equipment quickly. The City has purchased fleet vehicles from RedSky for the last five years with the most recent ambulance purchase in October 2022 in the amount of $445,082. Given the situation’surgency and the need for timely procurement, this purchase is a single source.
The estimated cost to outfit an ambulance with entirely new equipment is $270,000; however, due to budget constraints, outfitting will be completed using equipment from an ambulance to be taken out of service as well as from existing operating funds.
This ambulance adds to the fleet and will enhance the services of the new Ambulance Operator program. In addition, technological advancements, safety enhancements, fuel efficiency, customization options, and improved maintenance and reliability are key factors to consider. By investing in a new ambulance that aligns with these trends, the City can enhance patient care, improve safety standards, and ensure the efficient delivery of emergency medical services.
