Quitclaim of Santa Ana Valley Irrigation easement no longer in use at 1325 W. Katella Avenue.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve the quitclaim of the existing pipeline easement at 1325 W. Katella Avenue; and authorize the Mayor to execute on behalf of the City.

6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The Santa Ana Valley Irrigation (SAVI) Company was formed in 1877 to convey water to serve the farmers of Orange and surrounding communities. In 1975, the company was dissolved, and its interests were transferred to the City of Orange. There are approximately 283,370 linear feet (53.67 miles) of known SAVI pipelines in Orange. Some of the larger pipelines have been incorporated into the City’s storm drain system.
The Public Works Department has reviewed the SAVI system and has determined the portion of the SAVI pipeline and corresponding easement at 1325 W. Katella is not part of the City’sstorm drain system and is no longer needed. The removal of the pipeline and easement is needed to eliminate any conflicts with the proposed carwash facility at this location.
Staff is recommending City Council approve the quitclaim of the existing SAVI pipeline easement to the current property owner.
