6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The Public Works Department Water Division purchases asphalt cold mix and washed concrete sand for its repairs and maintenance operation of the water system. During Fiscal Year 2022-23 (FY23), a purchase order in the amount of $29,000 was issued to Main Street Materials and has now been exhausted. Outstanding FY23 invoices for additional materials for work recently completed will require an additional $8,000, bringing the total purchase order to $37,000. Because the total purchase order during the fiscal year exceeds the $30,000 purchasing limit, staff is requesting City Council approve the additional purchase amount.

The Water Division continues to monitor and seek out the lowest vendors to ensure the City is getting the best value available.
