1. SUBJECT
Authorize the purchase of two ambulances for the Orange Fire Department through a Cooperative Purchasing Agreement.
2. SUMMARY
Purchase two ambulances from Southwest Ambulance Sales. The City Council has previously approved the Cooperative Purchasing Agreement as the standard for vehicle and equipment procurement.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve the purchase of two Type 1 Ambulances from Southwest Ambulance Sales for $569,369.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
The total expenditure for this purchase is $569,369 and will be funded through the Vehicle Replacement Fund (720).

6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The Orange City Fire Department is requesting the purchase of two Type 1 ambulances as an add to fleet to improve emergency medical response services in our community. The ambulances are critical in providing emergency medical services to our residents, businesses, and visitors. As the population grows, there is an increasing demand for efficient and effective emergency medical response. Our current ambulance fleet is reaching the end of its operational life, resulting in higher maintenance costs and potential service disruptions.
To address these challenges, staff recommends the purchase of two Type 1 ambulances through the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) Cooperative Purchasing Contract No. AM10-20. This cooperative purchasing arrangement offers numerous benefits, including streamlined procurement processes, competitive pricing, and compliance with local regulations. processes, competitive pricing, and compliance with local regulations. The Type 1 ambulances are equipped with advanced medical equipment, ample patient care space, and robust off-road capabilities, making them ideal for serving our diverse community's needs. These two ambulances will be ready for delivery within a few months.
To fund the purchase of these ambulances, $466,000 was budgeted in the current Fiscal Year 2023-
24. Additional funds to complete this purchase are available in the Vehicle Replacement Fund because of savings achieved in previous fire apparatus purchases.
