1. SUBJECT
Appropriation of $30,000 in designated donation funding received from the Friends of the Orange Public Library.
2. SUMMARY
This $30,000 donation will be used to update the Library’stechnology, purchase comfortable furniture for use by the public, and provide items to enhance and expand the Library’s programming for families.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. Accept into the City’s budget a $30,000 donation from Friends of the Orange Public Library into revenue account number 100.2001.48390.19990, General Fund - Friends of the Library.
2. Authorize the appropriation of $30,000 into the following expenditure account numbers in the General Fund for Friends of the Orange Public Library:
$ 2,000 100.2001.53011.19990 Employee Appreciation
4,250 100.2001.55131.19990 Furniture, Machinery, and Equipment 22,000 100.2004.55131.19990 Furniture, Machinery, and Equipment 1,750 100.2016.53340.19990 Craft Supplies
4. FISCAL IMPACT
The total appropriations for this donation are funded by the additional revenue received from the Friends of the Orange Public Library.
5. STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS
Goal 3: Enhance and promote quality of life in the community e: Develop and strengthen collaborative partnerships to enhance and promote quality of life programs, projects, and services.
6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The Friends of the Orange Public Library (Friends) are donating $30,000 to meet various Library needs, including:
· $1,750 to purchase supplies to support El Modena Library’sTeaching Garden and Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros program.

· $2,000 to fund the Library’s Employee Appreciation Program. · $4,250 to purchase tables, chairs, and displays for the Library’s public areas. · $22,000 to fund volunteer sign-in stations and technology improvements to the El Modena Library Community Room.
The Orange Public Library will publicize the Friends’contributions in a variety of ways, including bookplates where appropriate, and credit for programming support on the Library’swebsite, flyers, and social media.
