On behalf of Olive Pony Baseball, I would like to thank the council and city staff for completion on the purchase and demolition of the abandoned building at 2829 N Glassell, adjacent to Olive Park. The families and residents that comprise our fantastic youth baseball league are anxiously awaiting final completion of the project, so that we may enjoy more onsite parking at Olive Park. Thank you for your dedication and efforts! Agenda Item: eComments for 5.1. Sale of Taft Branch Library (Tavoularis) Overall Sentiment

Libraries are still so very important to encourage reading in young and old alike. Reading expands your vocabulary, broadens your world views, and exposes a person to cultures, places and experiences they otherwise would not. Reading helps a person use his or her imagination in a way television or screens are not able to do.
Libraries enable people to find a wide range of books they might not otherwise come across. We should encourage the use of libraries not sell them off.

As someone who lives close to the library and uses it often, we are not supportive of it being sold. Thank you.

Please do not sell the land containing the Taft Library. Thank you.

The item is for the demolition of the Old Fire Station Headquarters as part of the Grand Street Parking Lot Project. While understandable that the old building cannot necessarily be used for another use, it's disappointing that the only option that has come up on the City Council agenda is a surface parking lot. Compared to other cities of similar size, such as Costa Mesa, Y orba Linda or Brea, the City of Orange has a small civic center, and a lack of community space. The Old Fire Station property is a great opportunity to create another community space, whether it is a park similar to Pitcher Park, or community facility, to expand the City Hall space. Old Towne has plenty of parking lots, but lacks green space and free, public community spaces. A place for City employees and local business employees to have lunch outside, for the choruses to meet at before the Tree Lighting Ceremony, a space for community groups to meet at.
There is still space to include parking, but even with City employees using the parking lot, the existing parking lot is rarely full, even at peak hours. I'd like to see there be a discussion and community input of other options to use the property, before moving forward and spending money on yet another parking lot in Old Towne.
Thank you,
Ashley Brodkin

Can the staff please address this during the council meeting?
1. Will the city Treasurer no longer be a member on either of the new separated committees? Based on reading the proposed new ordinances, it appears this is the case.
2. What will happen to current members of the Investment and Audit Committee? Will they need to re-apply to one of the newly established committees if interested?
Thank you.
