The City Council of the City of Orange, California convened on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. for a Special Meeting in the Shaffer Park Community Building, 1930 N. Shaffer St ., Orange, California.
5:00 PM STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION
1. OPENING/CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Slater called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m.
1.1 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Led by Mayor Dan Slater.
1.2 ROLL CALL
Councilmember Bilodeau joined the meeting at 5:07 p.m.
Present: Barrios, Dumitru, Tavoularis, Gutierrez, Bilodeau, Gyllenhammer, and Slater
Absent: None
2. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS
2.1. City of Orange Strategic Plan Discussion and Update.
Public Speaker:
Brandy Romero encouraged Council to explore the benefits of applying to the Certified Local Government program as part of the Strategic Plan to preserve the city's historic districts.
Written Public Comments
The Kennedy Commission submitted an eComment requesting the City focus on addressing affordable housing and homelessness.
Paul Kim submitted an eComment encouraging the City focus on developing affordable housing.
Barry Ross submitted an eComment encouraging the City focus on developing affordable housing.
Bonnie Robinson submitted an email encouraging the City to protect open space, develop affordable housing, and replace current trees with native trees.
City Council Minutes - Final March 11, 2024
Bill Kelly, Kelly Associates Management Group, LLC, conducted a communication exercise with the Council, City Attorney, and City Manager; and summarized the four interpersonal influence behavioral styles and the corresponding traits. Council discussed the respective Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats analyses; and the results from the citywide survey. Each Councilmember selected up to six preferred priorities /goals, which will be brought back in a Strategic Plan matrix report at a future meeting.
3. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:42 p.m.
The next Regular City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber, with Closed Session beginning at 5:00 p.m., if necessary.
