1. SUBJECT
Designation of voting delegate and alternate(s) for the 2024 League of California Cities Annual Conference & Expo.
2. SUMMARY
The League of California Cities requires that each city designate, by Council action, a representative and up to two alternates for the Business Meeting held during the Annual League Conference scheduled for October 16-18, 2024.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. Designate a voting member and at least one alternate to attend the Friday, October 18, 2024, League of California Cities Annual Business Meeting.
2. Direct the City Clerk to submit the Voting Delegate Form before the September 25, 2024, deadline.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
The voting delegate is required to register and attend the League of California Cities Annual Conference. The City will incur any expenses necessary for registration to enable the delegate and alternate(s), if appointed, to attend and participate at the Annual Business Meeting on Friday, October 18, 2024.
5. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
The League of California Cities (Cal Cities) 2024 Annual Conference & Expo is scheduled for October 16-18, 2024, in Long Beach. An important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting (during General Assembly) on Friday, October 18. At this meeting, Cal Cities membership considers and acts on resolutions that establish Cal Cities policy.
The City of Orange must designate a voting delegate to represent the City at the Annual Business Meeting. The City may also appoint at least one alternate voting delegate. One of these delegates may represent the City in the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to attend the conference.
The designation of a voting delegate and alternate(s) must be completed by City Council action. The Voting Delegate/Alternate Form must be submitted to Cal Cities no later than September 25, 2024.
The voting delegate and alternate(s), if appointed, are required to register, and attend the conference. They need not register for the entire conference; they may register for Friday only.
