Proclamation
Honoring
Officer Logan Shryock and K-9 Nash
WHEREAS, K-9 Nash is a German Shepard that was imported from Germany and entered into service with the Orange Police Department in February of 2020. Assigned to Officer Logan Shryock, Nash served as a multi-purpose dog trained for patrol service, tracking, and narcotics detection; and
WHEREAS, over the past six years, Nash has been instrumental in the assistance and apprehension of numerous criminal suspects, sniffing out large quantities of illegal drugs and the seizure of a considerable amount of drug sales money; and WHEREAS, during his service, Nash participated in over 500 deployments, which included crime scene searches, high-risk vehicle stops, alarm activation response, and drug searches resulting in the confiscation of over 60 pounds of narcotics and $200,000 dollars; and WHEREAS, while on duty, Nash provided an extra measure of safety to his fellow Orange Police Officers and saved the City of Orange hundreds of man hours by entering crime locations and searching them quickly and efficiently; and
WHEREAS, when not fighting crime, Nash represented the City of Orange as a community liaison officer and participated in over 50 public demonstrations for schools, churches, and other civic organizations; and
WHEREAS, the time has come that this valiant and valued canine has reached an age which has precluded him from continuing service with the Orange Police Department. Deservedly, Nash is retiring to live with the family of his handler and friend, Officer Logan Shryock.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Dan Slater, Mayor of the City of Orange , on behalf of the City and entire City Council, do hereby express my sincere appreciation to Nash, a real hero, for his six years of loyal and dedicated service to the City of Orange and wish him a long and happy retirement.

DATED this 24th day of February 2026.
