AGENDA TITLE: Interview Applicants and Make Appointments for Vacancies on the City of Orinda Planning Commission, Parks & Recreation, Supplemental Sales Tax Oversight Commission, Historical Landmarks Committee, Art in Public Places Committee, and County Connection Citizens Advisory Committee RECOMMENDATION:
City Council interview applicants and make appointments to fill vacancies on the Commissions, Committees. The Council may also discuss and decide how many appointments should be made to the Supplemental Sales Tax Oversight Commission, which can consist of between 7 and 10 members.
DISCUSSION:
The Interview Schedule is attached which shows each Commission/Committee with upcoming vacancies. The schedule also shows the names of the people whose terms are expiring.
The City Council will conduct interviews and make appointments to the various City Commissions, Committees.
In addition the City Council may discuss and decide how many appointments should be made to the Supplemental Sales Tax Oversight Board. There were originally ten (10) appointments made. Subsequently there was one resignation, which left nine (9) members. Two of the existing members (and the term of the resigned seat) are due to expire in February, 2022. The two existing members whose terms will be expiring have reapplied.
The Bylaws of the SSTOC indicate that “The Commission shall consist of no less than seven (7) members and no more than ten (10) members”, so the Council has discretion on how many to appoint within that criteria.
