Honorable City Council,
As you engage in a dialogue regarding the direction of the city I strongly urge you to prioritize the quality of life of the residents of Oxnard. Improve our bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure and restore our parks and recreational facilities.
The recent council meetings regarding Sports Park and the Aquatic Center serve as a testament to the importance of this issue to many in Oxnard. Improving the conditions of our parks and improving our bike and pedestrian infrastructure should be included in your priorities. With the death of Supervisor Ramirez and other pedestrians in our city we must do more. We have an amazing public works department and I know that they are working tirelessly on this issue. However, I think there are serious benefits to including it in your prioritization.
Including bike and pedestrian improves deals with 4/5 current categories: Quality of Life, Economic Development, Public Safety, and Infrastructure and Natural Development.
I recommend the following edits to the priories:
(Infrastructure and Natural Resources #1) Restore proper street paving cycle —> Maintain and improve proper street paving cycle and bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. (Infrastructure and Natural Resources #2) Restore proper maintenance of parkways and medians, tree trimming cycle, and clean up the gateways to the City —> Restore proper maintenance of our parks and recreational facilities.
I respectfully request that you consider the aforementioned edits and concerns in your discussion tonight. I look forward to listening to the conversation.
Respectfully,
Bryan Rodriguez
