Oxnard City Council,
My name is Jasmine Duron and I am the Advocacy and Community Impact Coordinator for Autism Society Ventura County. Autism Society Ventura County's Advocacy committee meets each week to identify items on local agendas that are important to the disability community.
Autism Society Ventura County's Advocacy Committee is in support of item 4 - Pre-Application Review of the Harrison Avenue Apartments Project, Located at 145-155 Harrison Avenue. Oxnard, and the greater Ventura County, are all in dire need of additional affordable housing, and the opportunity to build a 100% affordable project is very exciting.
We encourage the city, and the developer, to commit to ADA accessible units on the first floor of this project. We also would love to see set asides for people with developmental disabilities. It is our understanding that there is funding available from Tri-Counties Regional Center for housing set aside for their clients with disabilities. If this project is unable to accommodate set asides, we hope they can be incorporated into future development in the City of Oxnard.
We are grateful to Oxnard for being a leader in affordable housing.
