To the Oxnard City Council members,
RE: Works Department SUBJECT: Public Project Agreement 32500494 with C.S. Legacy Construction, Inc. for Oxnard Beautification and Cleanup Project, Specification No. PW 24-62.

I'm writing in support of the Oxnard Beatification and Clean-Up Project and the letter submitted by the members of the Camino Del Sol Community Garden and request that the council approved the item.

Thank you,
Ana Carrillo
Letter by the gardeners that was submitted by email:

Dear Members of the Oxnard City Council,
I am writing as a dedicated member of the Camino Del Sol Community Garden, where I have been actively involved for the past five years. I want to express my strong support for directing grant funds toward the improvement of this vital community resource.

The Camino Del Sol Community Garden currently supports over 50 local families, providing them with the invaluable opportunity to grow their own nutritious and healthy produce, directly contributing to improved food security and wellness in our community. With the support of these grants, we will be able to expand inclusion to many more families, thereby increasing the positive impact on the broader Oxnard community.

Beyond providing fresh food access, the garden fosters a healthier local ecology by encouraging populations of beneficial insects and wildlife, enhancing our neighborhood’s environmental quality.

It also serves as a safe and welcoming space for community events and regularly hosts open-to- the-public gatherings designed to celebrate diversity and promote inclusion among residents.

The garden offers a wealth of learning opportunities for local schools, including a special partnership with James Foster School for children with special needs. These children visit weekly to gain hands-on experience with real plants and growing environments—an enriching program that provides therapeutic benefits and valuable educational exposure.

Additionally, the community garden regularly hosts educational events that teach important agricultural skills and knowledge to local residents, empowering community members to become more self-sufficient, environmentally conscious, and engaged in sustainable practices.

For all these reasons, I urge the City Council to support reallocating grant funding toward the continued enhancement of the Camino Del Sol Community Garden. Investing in this garden is an

investment in the health, education, inclusion, and ecological well-being of our community.

Thank you for your consideration.
