Designation of Voting Delegate for League of California Cities Annual Conference RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Designate a voting delegate and alternate(s) who will attend the 2022 League of California Cities (Cal Cities) Annual Business Meeting on Friday, September 9, 2022.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Pacifica is a member of the League of California Cities (Cal Cities), an association based in Sacramento that represents the interests of California’s cities to the state legislature and provides cities with information on federal and state legislative and administrative affairs. The League maintains a staff that assists cities in solving problems including reference and research services, publications, conferences, and seminars.
This year's League of California Cities Annual Conference is being held in person at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, CA from September 7 - 9, 2022. The attached June 1, 2022 correspondence regarding the Cal Cities 2022 Annual Conference indicates that Council action must still be taken to designate a voting delegate and may appoint up to two alternates.
The Annual Business Meeting will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021. The Annual Business Meeting (during the General Assembly) for consideration of resolutions is scheduled to be held at 11:30 am on Friday, September 9, 2022. At this meeting the League membership considers and takes action on resolutions that establish League policy. Any Council member attending is eligible to be a delegate. Designating the voting delegate and alternate(s) must be done by City Council action and cannot be accomplished by individual action of Mayor or City Manager alone. City Council action is advised by August 31, 2022.
Following the Council's deliberation regarding the selection of a voting delegate and alternate, any Council member may make a motion to designate by name the voting delegate and one alternate who will be attending the League of California Cities Annual Conference business meeting.
