Agreement to terms with the Pacifica School District for rental space for Child Care services in the amount of $166,336 for the 2023-2024 school year.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt a Resolution to Authorize the City Manager to sign the 2023-2024 agreement with the Pacifica School District for rental space for Child Care services in the amount of $166,336, an amount which which will be included in the 2023-2024 Proposed Budget.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The Child Care division has offered services to the local community for over 40 years. The Child Care program serves state and county subsidized and full-cost children. The recommended contract with the Pacifica School District will include 13 classrooms and portables at Cabrillo, Ocean Shore, Vallemar and Sunset Ridge schools.
The program serves between 340-400 Pacifica children. Currently over 46% of the enrolled children receive free or reduced subsidized care through state and county contracts. The program serves children from preschool through middle school.
The contract rental amounts represent a 5% increase. The Pacifica School District increased the rent amounts for the current fiscal year and next fiscal year. As part of this rental increase, the PSD will be improving the conditions of a number of portal classrooms.
The rent per school site for July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024 will be:
Vallemar School $5,328/ month
Sunset Ridge School $3,197/ month
Cabrillo School $3,197/ month
Ocean Shore School $2,131/ month
ALTERNATIVE ACTION:
Do not approve the authorization of the 23-24' agreement between the City of Pacifica and the Pacifica School District for the rental of space to provide community Child Care services.
RELATION TO CITY COUNCIL GOALS AND WORK PLAN:
This action helps to support youth services, which is a component of A Healthy and Compassionate Community.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The contract agreement will cost $166,336 for FY 2032-2024, an amount which is included in the 2023-2024 budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PACIFICA TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN THE 2023-2024 AGREEMENT WITH
THE PACIFICA SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR RENTAL OF SPACE FOR
PARKS, BEACHES & RECREATION CHILD CARE SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Child Care Division of the Pacifica Parks, Beaches, and Recreation Department has provided services to the local community for over 40 years; and WHEREAS, the City of Pacifica’s Child Care Program serves families qualifying for state and county subsidization, as well as children at full cost; and WHEREAS, the recommended agreement with the Pacifica School District will include a total of 13 portables/classrooms at Cabrillo, Ocean Shore, Vallemar, and Sunset Ridge schools; and
WHEREAS, this agreement will allow the City of Pacifica Parks, Beaches, and Recreation Department to serve 340-400 this fiscal year.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Pacifica, California, the authorization of the City Manager to sign the 2023-2024 agreement with the Pacifica School District for rental space for Child Care services in the amount of $166,336, an amount which will be included in the 2023-2024 Proposed Budget. • • • • •
