Designation of Voting Delegate for League of California Cities Annual Conference RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Designate a voting delegate and alternate(s) who will attend the 2023 League of California Cities (Cal Cities) Annual Conference General Assembly Meeting on Friday, September 22, 2023.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Pacifica is a member of the League of California Cities (Cal Cities), an association based in Sacramento that represents the interests of California’s cities to the state legislature and provides cities with information on federal and state legislative and administrative affairs. The League maintains a staff that assists cities in solving problems including reference and research services, publications, conferences, and seminars.
This year's League of California Cities Annual Conference is being held in person at the Sacramento SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, CA from September 20 - 22, 2023. The attached June 21, 2023, correspondence regarding the Cal Cities 2023 Annual Conference indicates that Council action must be taken to designate a voting delegate and may appoint up to two alternates.
The General Assembly Meeting will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. for consideration of resolutions. At this meeting the League membership considers and takes action on resolutions that establish League policy. Any Council member attending is eligible to be a delegate. Designating the voting delegate and alternate(s) must be done by City Council action and cannot be accomplished by individual action of Mayor or City Manager alone. City Council action must be taken and the designations returned on the Voting Delegate / Alternate Form before August 28, 2023.
Following the Council's deliberation regarding the selection of a voting delegate and alternate(s), any Council member may make a motion to designate by name the voting delegate and up to two alternate(s) who will be attending the League of California Cities Annual Conference General Assembly meeting. The City Clerk will transmit the Voting Delegate / Alternate Form to the League of California Cities as directed by Council.
