Approval to Purchase Replacement Portable Two-Way Communication Radios RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Move to adopt a Resolution authorizing the purchase of replacement portable two-way communication radios from Motorola Solutions Inc in the amount of $229,744 as previously approved by Council in the Fiscal Year Budget 2023-2024.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
There is a need to replace the portable two-way communication radios required for improved reliability and firefighter safety. Existing radios are more than 10 years old and are not compatible with the new National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1802 standard. The new radios will meet the NFPA 1802 Standard.
A total of 18 portable radios and accessories for line personnel and the command staff will be replaced at a total cost of 229,774.
The vendor being utilized to purchase the radios is Motorola Solutions Inc. (c/o Red Cloud Inc.).
They are a government authorized business with HGAC purchasing group, providing the lowest cost available to the fire industry. This is the vendor North County Fire Authority is utilizing to provide portable two-way communication safety equipment ALTERNATIVE ACTION:
None.
RELATION TO CITY COUNCIL GOALS AND WORK PLAN:
Supports City Council goal of maintaining safe community.
FISCAL IMPACT
The amount of $229,744 has been appropriated and exists within the fire equipment replacement fund, as well as having been approved in the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget by the City Council.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PACIFICA AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF PORTABLE TWO-WAY COMMUNICATION RADIOS FROM MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS INC IN THE AMOUNT OF $229,744
WHEREAS, there is a need to replace the Portable Two-Way Communication Radios required for operational needs and firefighter safety; and WHEREAS, mission-critical operations depend on reliable communications for firefighters to mitigate emergent and non-emergent incidents safely, and efficiently; and WHEREAS, the replacement radios’ design, compatibility and durability will improve North County Fire Authority’s overall operational efficiency and safely of fire personnel; and WHEREAS, the vendor being utilized is a local vendor in our region that is a member of HGAC, a cooperative purchasing program which provides the lowest cost available to North County Fire Authority.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Pacifica, California, to authorize the purchase of Portable Two-Way Communication Radios in the amount of $229,744 from Motorola Solutions Inc., the provider used by North County Fire Authority.
