Cancellation of July 28, 2025 City Council Meeting

Move to approve cancellation of the July 28, 2025 regular City Council meeting.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Traditionally, the City Council has cancelled the second meeting in either July or August to allow for a vacation period. This proposal recommends cancellation of the second regular City Council meeting in July 2025. Should the Council wish to cancel the July 28, 2025 regular meeting, the next regularly scheduled City Council meeting will be August 11, 2025.
Research into the practices of other cities within San Mateo County for meeting recesses in the summer months found that ten cities cancel / recess for two meetings in July and/or August, five cities (including Pacifica) cancel / recess for one meeting in July or August and two cities do not observe a recess / cancellation of meetings in the summer months. Of the two that do not provide for a recess, the Town of Hillsborough Council meets only once per month regularly.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION:
Council may choose not to cancel the July 28, 2025 regular meeting or Council may choose to cancel the July 28, 2025 regular meeting and the August 11, 2025 regular meeting. If Council chooses to cancel the August 11, 2025 regular meeting, the next regularly scheduled City Council meeting will be August 25, 2025.
