Dear Sarah,
The current term of office for Peter DeJarnatt, representative to the Board of Trustees of this District from the City of Pacifica, will expire on December 31, 2025.
It is kindly requested that the City Council make an appointment or reappointment for the next term, commencing January 1, 2026, and extending through December 31, 2027, or through December 31, 2029. According to the California Health and Safety Code, Section 2020-2030, which dictates appointments to Vector Control District Boards:
• The city council of each city or town may appoint one person to the board of trustees.
• The term of office for a member of the board of trustees shall be for a term of two or four years, at the discretion of the appointing authority. • Terms of office begin at noon on the first Monday in January.
The common law incompatibility of office doctrine was addressed in SB 1588(2002), and as a result, a City Council member may now be appointed to the Board of Trustees.
Once an appointment has been made, please forward a letter stating that fact, indicating the term length (two or four years).
