BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

The City of Pacifica currently has the following vacant positions: Public Works Director, Deputy Public Works Director/City Engineer; Deputy Public Works Director/Waste Water. The City is proceeding with the recruitment process to fill these critical positions.

In the interim, the City has multiple projects that require continuous public works special expertise and staffing, including but not limited to:

1. The Pier Project

2. Beach Boulevard Infrastructure Project

3. Esplanade Project

4. Manor Overcrossing Project

5. Vallemar Waste Water Project
To ensure continuous progress on these projects, staff recommend amending the existing contract with CSG to add $225,000 for a new not to exceed amount of $300,000. CSG is a consulting firm with needed special services and expertise in Public Works during this time of transition.

CSG has staff with significant local experience and coastal experience. Attachment A has the current CSG contract with resumes for Jim Porter, former San Mateo County Public Works Director; and Edrie De Los Santos, former City Engineer for the City of Marina.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION:

Do not approve Resolution and contract amendment and the City will not have the expertise needed in the Public Works Dept necessary to advance the critical projects.
