Ratify comment letter regarding the Coastal Commission submitted during the US Department of Commerce Review of Coastal Act and Coastal Commission.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The US Department of Commerce Initiated a review of the California Coastal Management Program under Coastal Zone Management Act (including the Coastal Commission.) The comment period closed on August 22, 2026. The timing of the comment period did not allow for a letter to be brought to the City Council for approval prior to the deadline. The City Manager submitted the attached letter recognizing the accomplishments of the Coastal Commission.
Staff request that the City Council ratify the comment letter.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION:
If the letter is not ratified, the submitted comment letter could be interpreted as the input of City Staff.

This is related to the following City Council Goal:
1. Pursue climate change adaptation and mitigation.
