Regarding the commission you are applying for, list dates of most recent meetings you have attended or watched
I've watched one of the recent meetings and appreciate how the board works together.

Education:

I have a bachelors degree in Psychology and Communication Studies.

Background / Work Experience / Civic Involvement :

I was in residential real estate sales for 15 years before my current role in property management in Palm Springs.

Since living in Palm Springs full time for the last 8 years, I've have been very involved with the Palm Springs Historical Society and lead a variety of tours throughout the city focusing on Palm Springs rich history with architecture. I was on the Admin Appeals Board for 7 years and was chair for 5 of those years. It was a VERY rewarding experience and gave me a great sense of giving back to my community.

Describe your knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the commission you'd serve.

I understand that this board reviews applications for a given property to receive a historic designation based on an owner's applications and the preservations boards report.

What specific attitudes, skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the commission? As a lover of history and a docent for the Palm Springs Historical Society, I have a great deal of knowledge about Palm Springs rich history with famous architects and many of their celebrity clients.

What issues or problems face the board/commission? Do you have any suggestions to address them? .

Describe your knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the commission you'd serve.

To my knowledge, this committee is responsible for fostering public awareness and appreciation of the City’s rich cultural and architectural heritage. The Historic Site Preservation Board’s goals are to stabilize and improve buildings, structures or areas which are considered to be of historical, architectural, archaeological or ecological value.

What specific attitudes, skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the commission? In my career as a Landscape Architect, I have had the opportunity to work on several high profile Architectural restorations, including the Stuart Pharmaceutical building in Pasadena. The project designed by Edward Durrell Stone and Thomas Church was the 1958 AIA building of the year. I have a working knowledge of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Also, I love design.

What issues or problems face the board/commission? Do you have any suggestions to address them? I believe the commission faces pressure at the juncture of the rights of private land ownership versus community interest. Managing the rights of both these groups would seem to pose the greatest challenge.

Regarding the commission you are applying for, list dates of most recent meetings you have attended or watched
I have actively participated in 4 Measure J Commission meetings, attended 2 City Council meetings in person and 1 virtually. Additionally, I contributed to a Measure J proposal, which is one of the 14 recommendations currently being presented to the City Council. I also regularly attend Jeffrey Bernstein's community updates and participate in several OnePS meetings to stay engaged with local developments.

Education:

I have a BA in communications, having studied radio-Tv and Film and graduated from the Univ of Idaho. I spent two years at the Univ of Delaware, and one year at the Austro Institute of Education in Vienna.

Background / Work Experience / Civic Involvement :

I am a serial entrepreneur with 20+ years in the tech sector, serving as Founder, Operator, or Investor in over 20 startups since 2001. I have been an Executive Producer for corporate events and media, leading 30+ vehicle launches for Toyota, Nissan, Ford, and GM. I created a national teen driver training program for Toyota, reaching 35,000+ pre-licensed drivers. As a team organizer, I thrive on collaboration and have a strong reputation for building teams from the ground up. I advise the BBOP Center, a tech hub for young Black and Brown female entrepreneurs, and serve on the Board of Go Together, expanding multi-modal school transportation. I am active with Palm Springs CVEP supporting local innovation, and a Board Member of Democrats of the Desert. I am also an avid road cyclist, foodie, art collector, and social networker, bringing broad community insight to Measure J projects.

Describe your knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the commission you'd serve.

The Measure J Commission is responsible for evaluating and recommending community projects to ensure that the funds set aside through Measure J are allocated equitably and transparently, reflecting the community's priorities. I understand that the Commission follows a structured process that includes careful vetting of each project proposal, assessing eligibility, community impact, and compliance with Measure J guidelines. Commissioners engage in detailed discussions, apply consistent criteria, and exercise due diligence before making funding recommendations.

Through observing the Commission's work, I have seen the importance of thoughtful analysis, transparency, and fairness in every decision. I believe my varied background — including entrepreneurial and business experience — would enable me to contribute a practical, community-centered, and innovative perspective to support the Commission’s mission and procedures.

What specific attitudes, skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the commission? I’m known for my positive outlook — you could call me “Mr. Positive” — and I bring that energy into every situation.

Having managed numerous teams, I’ve developed a collaborative leadership style that brings out the best in people and fosters effective teamwork. I combine an analytical mindset with a pragmatic approach, two traits that are essential when working in team-driven environments. Additionally, my years of experience originating and supervising projects — both creatively and fiscally — have honed my ability to evaluate initiatives critically and thoughtfully. I believe these skills would directly support the Commission’s mission to serve our city and its constituents with excellence.

What issues or problems face the board/commission? Do you have any suggestions to address them? One of the key challenges facing the board is the intersection of city government politics and the influence of the business community. The involvement of powerful individuals and corporate representatives can sometimes create undue pressure on project outcomes, potentially steering decisions away from what is in the best interest of the constituents. In particular, I am concerned that future political or financial support could become tied to the results of Measure J projects, compromising objectivity and public trust. To address this, I suggest implementing stronger Item 1 - Page 19
safeguards to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the project decision-making process. This could include clear conflict-of-interest policies, independent oversight committees, and regular public reporting on project developments and stakeholder interactions. Ensuring that community input is genuinely prioritized, rather than influenced by external pressures, will help maintain the integrity of the board’s Section Break

Memo
To: Palm Springs City Council
From: David Reilly
CC: PS City Clerk’s Office

Palm Springs City Council,
I wanted to introduce myself as a candidate for the Measure J commission. I have completed the online application and attached this document and my professional resume for your reference.

I am a full time, permanent resident of Palm Springs. I am currently residing at VUE Palm Springs in District 3 since April 2, 2023. Prior to this I resided within the Tierra Hermosa community also District 3 since 2020. My prior employment consisted of overseeing the operations for a Northeast Regional Financial Institution in Boston Ma. One division of my responsibilities was facilities and maintenance. As such, I have over 14 years of experience managing development contractors and sub-contractors including working with city planners, interior designers, architects, and landscapers and of course the financing of the initiatives.

Since arriving in Palm Springs, my goal has been to focus on Community. Besides volunteering for the Richmond Emmet Aids Foundation (REAF) events in Palm Springs, I have extensively explored Measure J and the Parks and Recreation commissions, along with the city's different Master plans. With early retirement I frequently (at least twice a week) walk the grounds in each of the parks in the city which allows me to drive throughout the city, from Demuth to Desert Highland including the small Baristo park in the downtown area. In March of 2024 I was voted onto the Board of Directors for the Baristo Neighborhood Organization and assigned as the Treasurer as I remain currently. To keep abreast of all city developments, I attempts to read commissions and city Council meeting agenda’s as they are posted.

Thank you for your consideration.

Regarding the commission you are applying for, list dates of most recent meetings you have attended or watched
I have attended in person each regular and special meeting of the Measure J Oversight Commission in September, October, November and December of 2024, and January and February of 2025. I also plan to attend each subsequent meeting. I have also attended meetings of the Sustainability Commission, the Human Rights Commission, the Library Board, and the City Council.

Education:

I attended College of the Desert. At the time, there were not any nearby four-year universities, so I transferred to San Francisco State University ("SFSU"). After completing undergraduate and graduate education at SFSU, I received a Master's Degree and Doctoral Degree in Ethnic Studies from the University of California at Berkeley. This provided me the training as a social scientist to study and understand the histories and social realities of various cultural groups in the nation. I also have been awarded the following professional certificates: Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG), Philanthropy and Fund Development, and Human Resources Management. As a "BIPOC" resident of Palm Springs (Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander), I would bring the full range of my cultural and scientific education to bear when objectively reviewing Measure J proposals.

Languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian.

Background / Work Experience / Civic Involvement :

I am a resident of Palm Springs. My career spans positions in government, philanthropy, foundations, nonprofit organizations, education, and the corporate sector. I served in board leadership positions for the League of California Community Foundations, Southern California Grantmakers, and the City of San Francisco Workforce Development. I have been a guest of The White House under both Democratic and Republican administrations and have testified before the United States House of Representatives on the importance of a creating a Presidential Commission. For the City of Riverside, I oversaw the community grants program (similar to Measure J). I also administered the city's contacts for the convention center, municipal auditorium, and the performing arts center. As part of the team on the $1.5 billion "Riverside Renaissance," I helped advance 30 years of public infrastructure in five years. I also attended workshops presented by the Library Board. And I attend One PS meetings.

Describe your knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the commission you'd serve.

Functions: The Commission reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council on the use of funds generated by the implementation of Measure "J," 1% transactions, sales, and use tax. The City’s Finance Department provides staff support. Regulations: Eligibility to serve as a Commissioner are: (1) Applicants must either: live, work, or go to school within Palm Springs; (2) Applicants under the age of 18 will be considered; and (3) The City Council may also consider unique knowledge, skill, or experience in appointing a member to a Board or Commission. An appointment is typically for three years. Specifically, the Measure J Commission consists of nine members, plus two alternate members appointed by the Council. Commissioners must adhere to the Brown Act. Procedures: The Commission typically meets on the third Thursday of the month. Official business occurs via the public meetings that have an agenda, which includes time for public comment on items on or not on the agenda.

What specific attitudes, skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the commission? Attitude: Openess, objectivity, knowledge, and sound judgment. Skills and experience: When I worked in economic development and redevelopment for the City of Riverside, I worked with the Mayor, City Council, and City Management on a $1.5 billion quality of life and public improvements initiative (not unlike Measure J), including Downtown Revitalization and Business Improvement Districts. We built police s stations, fire stations, libraries, and we supported job creation and retention through City and Community Grants administration and distribution. I oversaw city-wide marketing and special events. I also negotiated and administered $7 million in contracts for City facilities. And I administered and managed City of Riverside’s $163,000 community grants and sponsorships. In Item 1 - Page 29
addition, I negotiated and administered a $145,000 Business Improvement District services contract for beautification projects and marketing.

What issues or problems face the board/commission? Do you have any suggestions to address them? I commend The City of Palm Springs "2023-25 Strategic Plan" for having among its Major Themes/Principles "social equity" as an element that "underpins all priorities, programs, and projects." However, when I have attended each Measure J Oversight Commission meeting, as a person from the Palm Springs disabled community, I have not noticed any emphasis placed on the "representation" of disabled people on the Commission. Although the City has ADA, Assistive Services and Resources, what seems to be missing from the Measure J Oversight Commission is someone serving who is disabled and who can give collegial and constructive voice to how Measure J funded projects and programs affect the disabled community. A way to address the issue is to have the City of Palm Springs Mayor and Council consider appointing a person from the disabled community. This is one reason why I would like to be considered. Yet, my disability is not the only reason why I want to serve, for I bring skills and experience.

Regarding the commission you are applying for, list dates of most recent meetings you have attended or watched
I am currently an Alternate on the Measure J Commission. I have attended regularly scheduled and special Measure J Oversight Commission Meetings since my appointment. Most recent are: April 17, March 20, February 20, and January 30, 2025. December 19, November 20, October 17 and September 19, 2024 Education:

I have a BA undergraduate degree from Cal Poly Pomona. Juris Doctor degree from Western State University College of Law, and a Masters degree in Organizational Management from University of Phoenix. Various continuing education courses in budget management, project management, diversity, equity and inclusion, program development and evaluation.

Background / Work Experience / Civic Involvement :

I was previously on the City of Palm Springs Human Rights Commission serving from 2010–2016 and served as vice- chair and chair of the commission. I served on the City of Signal Hill Planning Commission for 4 years, serving as vice- chair and chair during the development of the Hilltop Specific Plan. I have worked in the non-profit sector for over 30 years, serving as the Executive Director of the Long Beach LGBT+ Community Center. I worked for the Mizell Center as Director of Development for nearly 10 years, and wrote and developed the original grant for the current Meals on Wheels program. I was the first Director of Public Policy for Desert AIDS Project in 2002 and organized visits to Washington, DC and to Sacramento for advocacy. I served as Director of the San Francisco HIV Health Services Planning Council for 4 years. I was Executive Director of The Joslyn Center for 7 years and created the Joslyn Wellness Center providing mental health services to seniors. I retired in June 2024.

Describe your knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the commission you'd serve.

The Measure J Commission was formed as a part of the voter approved initiative in 2011 that approved a 1% increase in sales tax for Capital Improvement Projects initially focusing on downtown revitalization efforts. The passage of Measure J called for the formation of an oversight commission tasked with recommending capital improvements. The responsibility of the Measure J Commission is to provide oversight over the spending of Measure J funds, develop budgets and review projects that are funded fully or partially by Measure J funds and to make necessary adjustments for cost over-runs. Additionally, the Commission reviews, approves, and monitors Community Initiated Projects which have historically been approximately $1M of the overall budget. The Commission is also tasked with regular review of audits of Measure J spending to ensure that it is maintaining the original intent of the measure. Measure J funds have become a critical source of funding for capital improvement projects.

What specific attitudes, skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the commission? I have had a great deal of experience in working with City boards and Commissions as well as serving on them as a member and in leadership positions. With my training and background in diversity, equity, and inclusion, I remain constantly aware of how decisions impact various communities and how efforts should be maintained to reach out to various communities to insure their participation. While Chair of the Palm Springs Human Rights Commission, I championed a Cultural Humility Training for all members of city staff as well as a special training session for city commission members. I have worked on developing Strategic Plans for numerous organizations and currently facilitate the strategic planning process for non-profit organizations as well as lead seminars on various non-profit issues with Regional Access Project. My experience has helped me to understand the complexities of large infrastructure projects as well as program development and implementation.

What issues or problems face the board/commission? Do you have any suggestions to address them? Item 1 - Page 34
It is apparent that Measure J funds make up a “piece of the pie” related to other projects with Parks and Recreation, Library, Public Safety, etc. It would be helpful to have an overview of these projects and how Measure J funds mesh with the overall outcome and the timing of the projects for accurate budgeting. One of the more significant challenges is the surge in the cost of public infrastructure projects. This severely impacts budgeting decisions and necessitates the reallocation of funds and possible de-funding of other important projects. This would take a close review and coordination of projects, potentially placing additional funds in a cost reserve to help cover these significant increases. Review process for community initiated projects and provide forums on how to submit a complete proposal. Finally, increasing outreach to the underserved communities in North Palm Springs, building knowledge about Community Initiated Projects and their requirements.

Regarding the commission you are applying for, list dates of most recent meetings you have attended or watched
Currently an alternate member of the Measure J Commission and would like to become a regular/full-time member.

Education:

Master of Public Administration from Cal State University at Long Beach Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Redlands
Background / Work Experience / Civic Involvement :

Last year I was appointed to the Measure J Commission as one of the two alternate members. I have thoroughly enjoyed my participation on this Commission and would like to continue to serve as a regular/full-time member of the Commission.

Describe your knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the commission you'd serve.

I have spent the last year working with Chair Simpkins to learn about the role and responsibilities required of each member. Most recently, our Commission was able to recommend a portion of $6 million in Measure J funds to nearly 20 different applicants.

What specific attitudes, skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the commission? I have a strong ability to get along with others and work towards a common goal with the team. This can be accomplished through respect for others, listening to opposing views, and maintaining a course of action in line with City Council policy.

What issues or problems face the board/commission? Do you have any suggestions to address them? Our Commission learned quite a bit from our recent decisions to recommend a fair and equitable awarding of Measure J funds to various community groups. With this in mind, the challenge is always to carry the information forward so that new Commission members can be brought up to speed on challenges and success stories. A foreseeable challenge for the Commission will more than likely include a less than favorable sales tax return along with potential funding expectation for a new fire station and library rehabilitation.

Regarding the commission you are applying for, list dates of most recent meetings you have attended or watched
Have watched several of the Measure J, Human Rights Commission, and Airport Commission meetings.

Education:

BA in History from Cal State Sacramento, two years at San Joaquin Delta College (Stockton), and Lincoln High School (Stockton).

Background / Work Experience / Civic Involvement :

Have lived in PS for six years, local business manager at Seaplane, appear weekly on NBC Palm Springs "Roggin Report," and have hosted numerous fundraising events for PS Test and the LGBTQ Center of the Desert. While in Dallas, I was only the second ever openly gay on-air personality and was invited to share my experience and support many North Texas LGBTQ organizations.

Describe your knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the commission you'd serve.

I am very familiar with the many projects and organizations supported by Measure J. As only the second openly gay on-air personality in DFW in 1995, I am very familiar with the struggles our community faces, made all the more challenging by our current administration.

What specific attitudes, skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the commission? As an anchor-reporter for more than 25 years, I've covered everything from planning commissions to serial killers to hurricanes. I know well how government works- or does not work. I know people and what we all want from our lives. There are commonalities.

What issues or problems face the board/commission? Do you have any suggestions to address them? I love Measure J because it provides a vehicle for organizations to get the help they need to thrive in our community. Measure J provides the funding that otherwise might not be there to get some really special things done.

Regarding the commission you are applying for, list dates of most recent meetings you have attended or watched
I have watched the Commission's 2025 meetings - 01/13/25, 02/10/25, and 03/10/25.

Education:

Master of Public Administration - Concentration in Public Policy (Baruch College '24) Bachelor of Arts - Major in English; Creative Writing (SUNY New Paltz '21)
Background / Work Experience / Civic Involvement :

I bring a background in communications, public affairs, and public policy, with a strong focus on civic engagement and community-centered work. I currently serve as Public Affairs & Communications Manager at Caravanserai – Alliance for Entrepreneurs, a nonprofit supporting inclusive economic development. Prior to that, I was a Public Affairs Fellow for Congressman Adriano Espaillat in Washington, D.C., where I worked on constituent services, policy research, and community outreach. In addition to my professional experience, I currently serve as an Alternate Member of Palm Springs' Administrative Appeals Board since June 2024, where I’ve deepened my understanding of municipal processes and the importance of accessible, fair public administration.

Describe your knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the commission you'd serve.

The Human Rights Commission plays a vital role in protecting civil rights and fostering an inclusive, equitable community. I understand that the commission advises the city on issues related to discrimination, harassment, and equity, and may also assist in investigating complaints or recommending policy changes to promote human rights protections under local, state, and federal law. In addition to responding to specific incidents, the commission often engages in public education, community outreach, and coalition-building efforts to support historically marginalized groups. I also recognize the importance of maintaining impartiality, confidentiality, and procedural integrity when reviewing complaints or making recommendations. Having worked in public affairs and community advocacy, I deeply value the role this commission plays in ensuring that all residents feel seen, protected, and empowered — not only through policy, but through proactive listening and engagement.

What specific attitudes, skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the commission? I’ve committed my early career to serving disadvantaged populations and promoting more equitable, inclusive decision-making — whether through public policy, communications, or community engagement. Over the past few years, I’ve worked in public affairs and communications roles that have required me to navigate complex, often sensitive issues and engage with people from very different walks of life. That work has sharpened my ability to listen carefully, communicate clearly, and find common ground when interests or perspectives don’t always align.

What issues or problems face the board/commission? Do you have any suggestions to address them? One ongoing challenge for commissions like the Human Rights Commission is visibility — both in terms of public awareness and accessibility. Many residents may not know what the commission does, how to bring forward concerns, or even that it exists as a resource. That can limit the commission’s ability to proactively address issues or build trust with communities most affected by discrimination or inequity. To address this, I believe continued outreach, transparency, and partnerships with local organizations are key. Making meetings more accessible, demystifying the complaint process, and showing up in community spaces (not just City Hall) can all help strengthen the commission’s role as a trusted, responsive body. I'd be excited to contribute to that kind of engagement and ensure the commission is seen not just as reactive, but as a proactive force for equity in the city.

Dec. 9, 2024, Jan. 13, 2025, Feb. 10, 2025, March 10, 2025 Education / Educación
Bachelor of Arts - Theatre History- California State University, Northridge Master of Arts - Humanities - California State University, Northridge
Background/Work Experience/Civic Involvement - Antecedentes/Experiencia laboral/Participación cívica I have dedicated the last 20 years to serving social and economic justice organizations. Currently working for DignityMoves, a homeless non profit building tiny home villages, just prior as the Director of Development and Communications for Alliance for Housing and Healing, a Los Angeles based non-profit providing services to homeless individuals with HIV/AIDS. Prior to Alliance, Jack was the Deputy Executive Director of Programs and Development at Equality California.

Describe your knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the commission you'd serve / Describa su conocimiento de las funciones, regulaciones y procedimientos de la comisión a la que serviría I am most familiar with the intended and I believe the most important function of the commission - To make sure that everyone has a place a the table. To make sure that diversity and making sure that "the other", whatever that may be is included and respected in this city.

What specific attitudes, skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the commission? / ¿Qué actitudes, habilidades y experiencia específicas crees que tienes para mejorar la comisión? Having worked with marginalized and vulnerable populations for over 20 years along with my graduate education in Humanities has given me the ability to truly listen and understand what people need when they speak. I am a great community organizer and am fortunate to have the ear and respect of leaders of the many different communities that make up the vibrant Coachella Valley culture.

What issues or problems face the board/commission? Do you have any suggestions to address them? / ¿Qué problemas o problemas enfrenta la junta/comisión? ¿Tiene alguna sugerencia para abordarlos? There seems to be a lack of focus as to the mission of the commission. All the members have great input and ideas, but there doesn't seem to be a cohesive thread driving the work. That is often the challenge in social justice work - it's messy. But I believe I can bring a unifying voice to that can help to promote an effective mission and vision that we can use to provide a framework for supporting our city.

Describe your knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the commission you'd serve.

The mission of the Commission is to protect and promote the diversity of our community. Part of that mission involves ensuring citizens have access to relevant programs and services. The Commission also conducts the annual community service awards program. The Commission operates under the Brown Act and is advisory to the City Council on issues pertaining to human inclusion and protection. In its new form, I view the Commission as one focused on connection and communication to the citizenry.

What specific attitudes, skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the commission? I am a recognized champion of diversity, equality and inclusion at its broadest definition. I have received formal recognition from several minority business organizations for advances I've directed to increase participation of underrepresented firms in the procurement practices of major corporations. I've been directly involved in the execution of inclusionary people and business programs for the past 25+ years. This experience will bring new insights into Commission undertakings.

What issues or problems face the board/commission? Do you have any suggestions to address them? The Commission's purpose is now even more critical as we face the dismantling of DEI programs nationwide and the underrepresented feeling most vulnerable. Commissioners must be bold and innovative, e.g., I co-founded of a legislative process to create the nation’s first law requiring California-based energy, water and telecommunications firms to annually report their total procurement with LGBT businesses to the legislature. AB1678 was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown in September 2015.

Regarding the commission you are applying for, list dates of most recent meetings you have attended or watched
In 2025: January 13, 2025, February 10, 2025, March 10, 2025 * April 10th, 2025 - I was sworn in as a commissioner on the Human Right's Commission (April HRC meeting canceled due to religious holiday) I will be present at May and June 2025 meetings as a commissioner.

Education:

SUNY Purchase College
Background / Work Experience / Civic Involvement :

Board Member: Palm Springs Sister Cities (current) and Greater Palm Springs Animal Allies [formally known as:

Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter] (current), DAP Health (past). Civil Rights and Healthcare advocate. On- camera spokesperson and opinion piece contributor for LGBTQ+ and HIV Awareness causes. Spent most of my career as a TV Host and Personality using my platform and skills to work alongside, advocate and/or fundraise for organizations that fight for civil rights, healthcare, and basic human rights. I volunteer my services to work with students from all different socioeconomic backgrounds to help prepare them with the tools and skills for speaking/engaging in public forums. I was the Keynote Speaker at Safe Schools of the Desert in 2024, served as the Palm Springs Pride Parade official emcee (2024), and Palm Springs Health Run and Wellness festival honoree luncheon host (2024, 2025).

Describe your knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the commission you'd serve.

While I possess a strong knowledge of the functions, regulations and procedures of the Human Right's Commission, I look forward to learning more while being actively involved in the process as a current commissioner.

What specific attitudes, skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the commission? My history as a passionate human rights advocate, my personal involvement (through Boards, organizations, or otherwise) in developing programs and services that protect and enhance basic human rights, civil rights, cultural appreciation, as well as access to healthcare, housing and food, all give me a strong foundation and a diverse skill set to bring with me to the commission. I have a steadfast commitment to human rights, coupled with a passion for helping and educating others, while making the lives of those in my community safer, healthier, and more equitable.

I also bring with me a diverse perspective to the commission, representing younger community members, and those who want to see Palm Springs as a community that works to provide opportunity and dignity to all.

What issues or problems face the board/commission? Do you have any suggestions to address them? We are at a pivotal point for human rights nationally and locally. I want to ensure that the HRC helps the council navigate some of the pressing issues of today, from ensuring that everyone's human rights are continued to be protected in interactions with our police , to supporting our immigrant population, ensuring everyone's privacy rights are protected, providing oversight and gudiance as the city works through updating our municipal codes, helping to ensure fair access to city services through proactive language support and ADA compliance, protecting our LGBTQ+ community, and continuing to encourage youth and minority participation in civic matters.
