Fo llo wing the City’s Na m ing P o lic y, the P a lo Alto His to ric a l As s o c ia tio n ha s b e e n requested to recommend a name f or the new park at the corner of A l ma Street and Hawthorne A venue. Gi ven the si gni f i cant hi stori c l andmark on the property, we recommend “T ower Wel l Park.” When constructed i n 1910, the water tower was the firs t m a jo r vis ib le infra s truc ture o f the City’s utilitie s , a nd is a s ym b o l o f the City’s successf ul begi nni ngs and f orward thi nki ng l eaders. T he PA HA board agrees that “T ower Wel l Park” ref l ects the his to ric s ig nific a nc e o f this s ite .
