In the Hexagon analysis of the traffic impact of more frequent Caltrain service, I did not find consideration of the new traffic patterns that are likely to result from congestion or closure at the Palo Alto street / Alma crossing. Council has decided to defer decision on this crossing; however, commuters will probably need to find alternate routes when this crossing becomes regularly congested or closed, resulting in significantly increased traffic at other crossings. Surely Council has anticipated this effect. Possibly I overlooked discussion of this issue in the lengthy Hexagon report.
Can you briefly discuss during the meeting on Monday April 29 how this new traffic pattern has been taken into account?
