Public Works Director Seims provided a PowerPoint presentation showing the city Council a map indicating where each of the landscape companies were working in the city and described the work that was being performed by each of the vendors.
Ms. Seims next explained to the City Council the reason for amending each of the contracts and the remaining work to be completed as part of the amended contracts.
Thereafter the City Council asked clarifying questions and discussed the work that still needed to be done and the time frame for completing the landscape work. The City Council also discussed the cost and expressed concerns that a lot of time is being spent on making some areas look perfect when there are areas that still haven't had maintenance done yet. Discussion continued about the work that was being done and whether the landscape maintenance contractors were overlapping the fire weed abatement.
In response to a request from the city council, Ms. Seims advised that she was preparing a list of the areas that have been completed and a list of the areas to be completed and a time frame for completion. A lengthy discussion continued regarding the landscaping.
ACTION: Moved by Council Member Lozzi, and seconded by Council Member McGowan, locations along Palos Verdes Drive North; Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with American Arbor Care increasing the contract amount by $47,000 to a total contract amount of $72,000 for the median and right-of-way locations along Palos Verdes Drive West; and Approve Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with Finley's Tree and Landcare, Inc.
