PARADISE TOWN COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING – 5:00 PM – November 12, 2024
1. OPENING
The Special meeting of the Paradise Town Council was called to order by Mayor Lassonde at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 5555 Skyway, Paradise, California who led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Greg Bolin, Steve Crowder, Steve “Woody” Culleton, Rose Tryon and Ronald Lassonde Mayor.
COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: Town Manager Jim Goodwin, Town Attorney Scott E. Huber, Town Clerk/Elections Official Melanie Elvis, Town Engineer Marc Mattox, Human Resources and Risk Management Director Crystal Peters, and Information Systems Director Luis Marquez.
At 5:01 p.m. Mayor Lassonde announced that the Town Council would adjourn to Closed Session for the following items:
2. CLOSED SESSION
2a. Pursuant to Government Code section 54956.9(a), the Council will meet with the Town Manager, and the Town Attorney relating to existing litigation: Town of Paradise v. Mark Thomas & Co., et al., Butte County Superior Court, Case No. TBD
2b. Pursuant to Government Code section 54956.9(a), the Council will meet with the Town Manager, and the Town Attorney relating to existing litigation: Heather Mowell-Sage, et al. v. Knife River Construction, et al., Butte County Superior Court, Case No. 24CV03040. 2c. Pursuant to Government Code section 54956.9(a), the Council will meet with the Town Manager, and the Town Attorney relating to existing litigation: Perry Walters v. Town of Paradise, Butte County Superior Court, Case No. 24CV03454.
2d. Pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(2), the Council will meet with the Town Manager and Town Attorney regarding potential exposure to litigation – one case.
2e. Pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(4), the Town Council will meet with the Town Manager and Town Attorney to consider initiation of litigation – one case.
After reconvening from Closed Session at 5:54 p.m., Mayor Lassonde announced direction was given, no reportable action was taken.
3. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Lassonde adjourned the Council meeting at 5:55 p.m.
