SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL AD HOC COMMITTEE ON COMMUNITY AESTHETICS
BACKGROUND
In November of 2023, the City decorated Paramount Boulevard in the downtown with holiday lights and other festive décor. This was done mainly to commemorate the City’s 25th Anniversary of the Tree Lighting Ceremony, which was held on November 29, 2023.
The City received a tremendous amount of positive feedback from the community about the decorations.
At the City Council’s annual goal-setting session on January 23, 2024, the City Council established as one of their goals the evaluation of permanent decorative lighting for the downtown as well as an improvement of the design for the holiday décor.
DISCUSSION
To help guide staff with the evaluation of permanent decorative lighting and with the design for this year’s holiday décor, staff is recommending the formation of a City Council Ad Hoc Committee on Community Aesthetics. This Ad Hoc Committee will be composed of two councilmembers, staff, and potential designers. The Committee will meet on an as needed basis.

At this time, there is no fiscal impact to forming the Ad Hoc Committee on Community Aesthetics.
