REGULAR BUSINESS:
SUBJECT: Consideration and Necessary Action of the City Council of the City of Parlier Adding Annexed Territory to a City Council Electoral District.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends City Council Adopt Resolution No. 2023-15 Adding Annexed Territory to a City Council Electoral District.

RESOLUTION NO. 2023-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PARLIER ADDING ANNEXED TERRITORY
TO A CITY COUNCIL ELECTORAL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City is annexing territory consisting of a large subdivision which is essentially wedged between City Council Electoral District No. 4 and 3. The City Council is required to add this territory to the "nearest existing Council District without changing the boundaries of other Council Districts" pursuant to Elections Code §21603; and
WHEREAS, based on maps of the annexed territory and the Electoral District Boundary Map, the City Council finds and determines that the territory to be annexed is nearest to existing Council District No. 4.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct.
2. The territory to be annexed to the City of Parlier, APN 355-021-06 and 07 situated between City Council Electoral Districts No. 4 and 3 is nearest to existing Council District No. 4.
Pursuant to Elections Code §21603, the City Council finds and determines that the annexed territory, APN's 355-021-06 and 07 shall be and hereby is included within District 4, the boundaries of which are hereby changed to include the annexed territory, without any change to any other City Council Electoral District.
A copy of this resolution shall be forwarded to the Fresno County Elections Office.
