This project has many benefits to Pasadena, most notably its transformation of a surface parking lot into a beautiful, vibrant mixed-use building. The project team has gone to great lengths to create a project that addresses the shortcomings of the property. I am particularly pleased that this will not be a cookie- cutter glass and stucco rectangle with a great big garage openings on the street. There will be a pedestrian path between Dayton and Fair Oaks, which will make the site much more walkable.
There are also more than 6,000 square feet of retail uses along Fair Oaks which complements the surrounding retail and brings new options to Pasadena residents.
It is a very smart project that meets many of Pasadena's planning goals, including placing housing near transit.

Hi Pasadena City Council.
When considering new development in Pasadena, we should make sure it is designed to be walkable for pedestrians, friendly to bicyclists and connected to public transit. Central Park Apartments, which will be built on a surface parking lot at Dayton and Fair Oaks, checks all the boxes. It is a short walk from the Del Mar and Memorial Metro stations, which will allow residents to skip driving altogether if they choose. It's also making the property far more walkable than what exists today and includes special amenities for bicyclists.
I'm also excited to see some of the sustainability measures incorporated into the project - I understand it will be LEED certified and all the landscaping is designed to support in-ground trees and be sustainable. Additionally, the SCEA found no unmitigated environmental impacts, which I believe is important.
This project will be a really great new addition to our City! Please support.

I am very pleased by how the Central Park Apartments design team made sure that both the size and design of the proposed project integrate well with the surrounding buildings. The renderings show that the apartments fit with the surrounding buildings, while still looking contemporary and beautiful. This project is within half a mile of two of our City's Metro stations and with the added convenience of nearby retail in Old Pasadena, it is an ideal place to put housing. I'm also excited that it includes affordable housing which is so important to our community.
This is a perfect opportunity to build transit-oriented housing in our community.

COVID-19 turned the world upside down and caused a lot of hardship for Pasadena residents and businesses. Brighter days are ahead, and nothing demonstrates that better than the proposed project called Central Park Apartments.
This project is a true investment in Pasadena. It is a beautiful new building that not only brings residential units and neighborhood-serving retail to the community, but it also beautifies a very prominent corner of our City with gorgeous landscaping and pedestrian improvements. This is exactly what should be placed next to Central Park and all the buildings in that area.
This project has many economic benefits as well and I believe the surrounding Pasadena businesses will do well to have new local customers. Plus, the SCEA found no unmitigated environmental impacts.

Los Angeles is facing a severe housing crisis. As a resident of Pasadena, I have seen the serious need for more housing firsthand. Not only will the Central Park Apartments project bring more housing to our community, but it will bring a range of different options at different price points- including affordable housing.
Affordable housing is a huge priority for our community, and we should not miss an opportunity to build more-especially not because of minor issues such as people not wanting their views to change. This project is bigger than a few individuals' concerns. It is about housing our community.
The location of the housing also makes sense and aligns with other City priorities such as lowering greenhouse gas emissions. I am writing to support the Central Park Apartments project in Pasadena. As a resident of the community, I can't wait to see new housing go up in such a great location. The project will replace a parking lot with 84 housing units and over 6,000 square feet of retail as well as open space that will serve the whole community. The live-work lofts along Dayton are a unique way to blend the housing and the retail feel, and l am excited to see what kind of creative ways they are used.
I am aware that some residents are concerned about their views, however I believe this project is bigger than that—and important for our entire community. It would be a shame to see this project fail due to a few people's views changing.
The project creates a wonderful southern entrance to Old Pasadena and fits in with the mixed-use nature of the area. Plus, I believe it will bring neighbors and families to our beautiful Central Park given that it is right across the street.
