As a Rose Bowl area resident on Seco street, my life is regularly and negatively impacted by large events at the Rose Bowl. The absolute worst of these are soccer games. I was put in danger by one such game in 2016. Though I have a resident access pass which is supposed to allow me access to the home that I own, I was abandoned by the event staff after being let through the barricade. Instead of being escorted to my home, they left me surrounded by the cars of rowdy soccer fans. These people threatened me, screamed vulgarities and abuse at me, and bumped my car. The event staff did nothing. And now you want to have even more of these awful events? No. As a resident, I say no. -Kris Jensen

LINDA VISTA-ANNANDALE ASSOCIATION
Re: City Council Meeting 2/14/2022 ; Agenda Item 9; Rose Bowl Soccer Games Mayor Gordo and Councilmembers ,
The Linda Vista-Annandale Association (LVAA) does not object to the proposed License Agreeme nts with SUM for international Soccer Games over a series of years, or object to the proposed Game in September of 2022.

Our concerns focus on making legally required factually-based Findings , particularly Findings 3 and 4, under the Arroyo Seco Public Lands Ordinance for FUTURE years, specifically 2023,2024,02025 and 2026, based on unsupported factual assumptions . At this time, you and the residential neighborhoods surrounding the Rose Bowl and Central Arroyo have no idea how many Displacement Events will be in effect in the future, particularly since the RBOC is considering further increases in Displacement Events, or, what the actual facts and circumstances will be just ifying and supporting making the required Findings NOW based on an UNKNOWN and unpredictable future .

We request that you postpone considering the required Findings under the Arroyo Seco Public Lands Ordinance for SUM Soccer Games in years 2023-2026 until during those years, close to the proposed Games, so that the required Findings can be considered and made or not with regard to the actual facts and circumstances as they exist then.

Thank you for considering our comments and concerns .

Sincerely ,
Nina Chomsky ,
L V AA President
cc: L V AA Board of Directors

RBOC License Agreement s with Soccer United Marketing

Dear Mark, please make sure my e-mail below is shared with the Mayor, the Councilmembers and the City Manager.

Thank you and have a great day.

Emina
Dear Mayor Gordo , Members of the City Council and City Manager Kurtz, As a long time neighbor of the Rose Bowl and one who still holds fond memories of attending the soccer matches that were played at the Rose Bowl during the 1984 Olympics, and the men's World Cup in 1994 when Brazil defeated Italy in a penalty shoot-out, as well as the women's Cup Final in 1999 when the US team defeated China also in a penalty shoot out with Brandi Chastain kicking that famous winning goal, and a few other matches since then, I would love to see more soccer played at the Rose Bowl. Believe it or not there is a huge market for it. And with proper planning and mitigations, I don't see a soccer match causing major disruptions to the neighborhoods immediately adjacent to the Rose Bowl.

These days, with the tough competition that exists among venues to host events, I am delighted Soccer United Marketing chose the Rose Bowl to bring 5 international soccer matches to over a 5 year period, and urge you to approve the RBOC's request to enter into a license agreement with Soccer United Marketing.

The city, our hotels, our restaurants not to mention the Rose Bowl can certainly benefit from the income these five events will bring.

Thank you for the opportunity to send a comment.

Sincerely,
Emina Darakjy
Close neighbor of the Rose Bowl
