The Community Wildfire Protection Plan developed by the Pasadena Fire Department:
• Was collaboratively developed. Interested parties, key stakeholders, Pasadena City departments, and Los Angeles County Fire Department wildfire expert has been consulted.
• This plan identifies evacuation options for those who live and/or work in the “Arroyo” area.
• This plan recommends measures to reduce the ignitability of structures throughout the area addressed by the plan.

The following entities mutually agree with the contents of this Community Wildfire Protection Plan:

Community Wildfire History and Purpose
Background:

Over the past 10 years California and the entire Western region has experienced catastrophic loss due to wildfires. The loss of life, property and effects on the environment have been devastating. Although wildfires within the City have historically been infrequent, current climate models forecast a future dryer and warmer climate scenario for the area. With or without climate change, wildfires are inevitable, however, the risk to humans can be minimized and the loss and damage to homes, businesses, critical infrastructure, and other human development can be significantly reduced through thoughtful planning. When living within the wildland urban interface, planning ahead for wildfires is a necessity. Fire strikes without warning and moves alarmingly fast, often leaving residents with limited time to gather belongings.

Purpose of the plan:

The purpose of this Plan is to provide evacuation recommendations to those residing or working in and around the “Arroyo”. This plan will enhance the protection of human life safety and reduce the wildfire threat to community assets such as homes, commercial structures, critical infrastructure, businesses, and natural and historic resources within the City.
