Re: City Attorney's Office Proposed FY2023 Operating Budget Dear Mayor Gordo, Members of Legislative Policy Committee:

The proposed enhancement of the Civilian Police Oversight Commission's (CPOC) budget for Training at $25,000 is strongly supported by the Coalition for Increased Civilian Oversight of Pasadena Police (CICOPP).

The CPOC, as a new effort to increase much needed understanding and cooperation between the low income community of Pasadena - heavily impacted by police presence and trauma - and police has proposed community-led trainings on the history of Pasadena and trauma informed care for Commissioners and the Police Department.

With the help of the IPA and NACOLE, this groundwork will be valuable in providing a context in which Commissioners and police will work to improve the status quo.

Thank you for your attention to this critical need.

Sincerely,
Kris Ockershuser
CICOPP
