Re: Council Meeting 6/13/2022; Agenda Item 10; Fire Station 38 Upgrade Contract Mayor Gordo and Councilmembers,
The Linda Vista-Annandale Association (LVAA) is pleased to support this Agenda item to award the contract to upgrade Fire Station 38, the Linda Vista Fire Station, in order to bring the Station up to applicable Codes and laws for safety and related purposes including seismic safety standards and also to renovate the interior personnel areas.
As indicated in the Staff Report and explained to us by Chief Augustin, this project will not change the basic design or character of the current Fire Station structure as most of the construction is interior work, or impact the on-site Heritage Oak Tree adjacent to the station, although we expect and request that the Heritage Oak will be protected pursuant to City rules for any potential construction impacts or damage. Also, we understand that Fire personnel will be housed temporarily in trailers at the back of the property. Under these circumstances, LVAA is pleased to support the project and requests that the Council approve entering into the contract for the project.
Sincerely,
Nina Chomsky, LVAA President
