Dear Mayor and City Council members.
I truly implore do you not to allow assault weapons to the Pasadena police Department.
Which of course has too much possibility of causing more distrust and hostility in poor communities in communities of color than there are at this time already.
Would it not be better to have better relationships with the state police and the National Guard for any kind of situation that would demand that kind of introduction of such weapons? At a previous discussion about this kind of weapon this 50 mm military weapon it was stated that it was not to be used on people but on the vehicle. Unless the vehicles are driven by androids or robots they would be driven by people or in a hectic situation you could have a civilian vehicle or more in the line of fire before it is real life the consequences of such an accident and be very long reaching with the tensions that exist at this point in time racially and economically.
Remember actions speak louder than words!A parent consent due to their child not to be violent and then had an argument with the next-door neighbor and by their actions prove this statement beforehand incorrect by hitting your neighbor. Do you speak against violence and then add to one's arsenal and more heinous weapon is on one hand the logical and perhaps on a greater scale a kind of mortal insanity.
Sincerely,
Peter C Hartgens OFM, MSW
