Subject: Transportation Electrification Projects Update This report is for information only.
BACKGROUND:
Pasadena Water and Power ("PWP") has invested in the buildout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure through a commercial rebate program, installation of Level 2 chargers at multiple city-owned locations, and the construction of several Level 3, direct current fast charging ("DCFC") sites. Electric vehicles ("EVs") help improve local air quality and aligns with the City's Climate Action Plan ("CAP") by reducing greenhouse gas emissions ("GHG"). PWP's EV charging projects help generate additional energy sales, ensure a reliable EV charging network, and is integral to widespread adoption of EVs in California.
The attached presentation highlights recently completed projects, projects that are currently in construction, and future planned projects. The presentation will also show data that exhibits a steady increase in the adoption of PWP-owned electric vehicle charging stations.

 Why Electrify?
Pasadena Water and Power
• The transportation sector generates the largest
share of greenhouse gas emissions.
A typical passenger vehicle emits 4. 6 metric
tons of carbon dioxide per year.
Electric vehicles are a green alternative.
PWP electric vehicle charging stations are not
built with ratepayer funds, but state programs
that are designed to reduce GHG emissions.
Transportation electrification can reduce the
overall rate of electricity.

MEMORANDUM
July 12, 2022
To: Municipal Services Committee
From: Jeffrey Kightlinger
Interim General Manager
Subject: Water Conditions and Emergency Water Conservation Regulation Update
This report is for information only.
BACKGROUND:
California is contending with a severe drought, the impacts of which include stressed ecosystems, diminished reservoirs, impacted farms, and threats to urban water supplies with the potential for extensive wildfires. A combination of low precipitation and high temperatures have left the State’s reservoirs with significant deficiencies, triggering state, regional, and local actions to conserve.
On August 16, 2021, Pasadena City Council activated the Level 2 Water Shortage Plan and adopted a voluntary 15 percent water reduction goal. On June 10, 2022, the State activated a new emergency water conservation regulation, which requires the implementation of Level 2 Water Shortage Plans, and prohibits the irrigation of non- functional turf with potable water at commercial, industrial, and institutional (“CII”) sites.
PWP is working with City Departments, CII customers, and regional agencies to support compliance, and seek opportunities to retrofit non-functional turf to drought tolerant landscapes.
