Agenda Items: Monday August 15, 2022
#9. A few weeks ago I expressed to the public safety committee my gratitude for prioritizing Gang Violence Outreach and Interruption. I'm thankful for all of the organizations and people who submitted proposals and I am confident that the team chosen has credibility with the community and others to do the work well. I actually served as a community mentor with the NOW Program and APF, both of which were led by Ricky Pickens and included the leadership of Flavio, Deandre and others who were concerned about intervention and prevention. There have been others doing the work... Tony Massengale, Tarek Ross, to name a few, have made significant contributions to this difficult work of intervention, prevention and interruption. I'm also keenly aware that these three brothers (Ricky, Flavio and Deandre) aren't the entire answer to the challenges we face. I take personal responsibility as a spiritual leader, and Pastor of this city...to mobilize the church to play a greater role in repairing the broken people and places here. This is a good start and I hope that collectively we can envision ONE PASADENA... whole, healthy, united. A Pasadena that will not need such a team. But until then, we must do whatever we can to keep peace in our streets.
#12. The WORLD has opened up, Our Nation has resumed in-person meeting and gatherings; Our CHURCHES are back in the building, using caution...So there is NO LEGITIMATE reason why our City Council should be meeting in person.

Just like everyone else, if the numbers begin to rise, we can go virtual again. However, I believe there is a sense of urgency among our residents to be able to express and exercise our rights to these assemblies... in person.

1 I may be wrong, and I have been before...But it almost seems like you guys are getting too comfortable leading this live, thriving city... virtually. This is not acceptable. Stop passing the buck and kicking the can..RESUME PUBLIC CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS IMMEDIATELY
Humbly Submitted,
Pastor Kerwin Manning
Senior Pastor, Pasadena Church...the church with no limits!
